The Kromhout archive
The museum has a very extensive archive, consisting of various collections, all of which have great historical value. At the moment, our volunteers are working on digitising and further archiving. We get help from the National Maritime Museum, among others. The collections give a picture of the history and heritage of shipbuilding at the time of industrialisation in Amsterdam. Eventually, this information will be unlocked. If you have any questions about the archive or if you have material that could be interesting to include in the archive, please contact ‘team archive Kromhout’ via this link: khm.archief@gmail.com
New:
Our volunteers are constantly working on the digital disclosure of our archive material.
Until now, we have made the leaflets and manuals that Kromhout has ever produced digitally available to our members. See the following (Dutch) archive menu items:
A collection of more than 600 books, including textbooks, reference works, books about engines, the Kromhout factory and people, manuals and information about spareparts of the various engine types.
An overview of printed matter; Colorful brochures, brochures, posters and magazines, intended for sale and to give overview and specifications in different engine types. Museum objects including miniatures, art, motorcycle parts and tools.
An extensive film, video and photo image database of historical material and of the current museum.
A complete business administration: a.o. correspondence, business administration, reports and curious logs.
In addition to our extensive archive, there is of course the still working collectie Kromhoutmotoren to see. You can see (and hear) these engines in operation every Tuesday and third Sunday of the month!
